For a few weeks, this first varietal avocado of mine sat, with little growth at all. Then, it started shedding leaves. Yet, I noticed that the flower stalks were elongating a bit. Was it going to expend all its energy on the flowers while shedding its leaves and ultimately cratering completely?

Newly purchased Wurtz Avocado.
Avocados have been on my wish list for some time now. I’ve started dozens from seeds I’d save from lunches when I worked at the grocer. However, a seeded avocado is a serious commitment of time for something that may or may not taste good so I never really gave the seedlings much priority. But enough is enough – it’s time to scratch off that wish-list item and start down the path of avocado paradise.

Welcome to Taroandti.com. Avocado is something that I can eat all day long. Indeed, whenever it was on sale at a job I held a while back, that was my lunch. It’s delicious and comes with it’s own bowl – just cut it in half, break out the seed and break out a spoon. Ahhh… Okay – well, other than what has to be dozens of seeds I’ve sprouted, I’m brand spanking new at actually growing avocado. This blog will document this budding adventure as I travel the path with my first avocado tree and surely many more to come.
