Then, it started shedding leaves. Yet, I noticed that the flower stalks were elongating a bit. Was it going to expend all its energy on the flowers while shedding its leaves and ultimately cratering completely?

I’ve started dozens from seeds I’d save from lunches when I worked at the grocer. However, a seeded avocado is a serious commitment of time for something that may or may not taste good so I never really gave the seedlings much priority. But enough is enough - it’s time to scratch off that wish-list item and start down the path of avocado paradise.

Avocado is something that I can eat all day long. Indeed, whenever it was on sale at a job I held a while back, that was my lunch. It’s delicious and comes with it’s own bowl - just cut it in half, break out the seed and break out a spoon. Ahhh… Okay - well, other than what has to be dozens of seeds I’ve sprouted, I’m brand spanking new at actually growing avocado. This blog will document this budding adventure as I travel the path with my first avocado tree and surely many more to come.
